  • Anthracnose (Apiognomonia errabunda) causes brown legions on leaves and can create damage often mistaken for frost
  • Powdery mildew (Microsphaera platani) is sometimes found on lower side of leaves but has minimal stress on tree
  • Wood is heavy, hard and weak
  • Unique peeling bark which has a mottled appearance
